Your Documents Stay on Your Device

Scanning, text recognition, image processing, PDF creation and spreadsheet export all run on your device. The app has no user accounts and no server of ours that your documents are sent to.

We never receive, store or have access to: the images of your scans, the text recognised from them, any amounts, dates, merchants or tax figures, the notes or titles you write, or the names of the files you export.

Your scans and their details are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They are included in your device's own backup if you have one enabled (iCloud Backup on iOS, or the equivalent on Android). Those backups are operated by Apple or Google under their own terms, not by us.

When you export or share a file, it goes wherever you choose to send it. That destination is your choice and is governed by whichever app or service you send it to.

Usage Statistics

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, the app records statistics about its use. These never contain content from your documents. Specifically, we may record:

• When the app is opened and when it is moved to the background, so we can see how often and for how long it is used.
• Whether the introductory tour was completed or skipped.
• That a scan was added, how many at once, and whether it came from the camera, your photos, a PDF, or was shared from another app.
• That an export was completed, in which format, and how many scans and sheets of paper it produced.
• That a usage limit of the free plan was reached.
• That the subscription screen was shown, and which feature led to it.
• That a subscription was purchased, and which plan.
• That a signature was added, and whether to one page or a whole document.
• Crash reports: the type of error and where in the app's code it occurred, with the device model and operating system version. The error's message is removed before a report is sent, because it could contain text from a document.

These are counts and fixed choices only. The app is built so that no text you or your receipts contain can be included in them.

Each record also carries technical details about the app and the device: the app version, device model, operating system and its version, screen size, language and region setting, time zone, and whether the connection was Wi-Fi or mobile data. It also carries an approximate location that our analytics provider works out from your IP address: country, region, city, postal code and approximate coordinates, which point to an area rather than to where you are. The IP address itself is not stored with the record.

Records are tied to a random identifier created when the app is installed. It is not linked to your name, email address or any account, and we do not try to find out who you are. Deleting the app removes the identifier from your device. We keep these statistics for 12 months, after which they are deleted.

Advertising

The free version of the app shows banner advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. To deliver them, Google may process device identifiers and similar information in accordance with its own privacy policy. Subscribers to AuditReady Pro see no advertisements.

Advertisements are never placed inside, and never derived from, the contents of your documents.

Consent and Your Choices

Where required by law, including in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the app asks for your consent before advertising and usage statistics are collected, using Google's consent form. Until that consent is given, no usage statistics are sent. You can change your choice at any time in the app, under Settings.

On iOS, you may also be asked for permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. You can change that at any time in the iOS Settings app.

You can delete all of your scans and their details at any time from Settings within the app. Because we never receive your documents, deleting them on your device removes them entirely.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and are managed for us by RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment details. We receive only the status of your subscription, which is not linked to your documents.

Service Providers

The app uses the following third-party services, each under its own privacy policy: PostHog, hosted in the European Union, for the anonymous usage statistics; Firebase Crashlytics, by Google, for crash reports; Google AdMob, for advertising in the free version; RevenueCat, together with the Apple App Store and Google Play, for subscriptions.

Crash reports may be processed by Google outside the European Union, including in the United States, under the safeguards Google provides for such transfers. They contain none of your documents' content.

Text recognition is performed on your device by Apple Vision on iOS and Google ML Kit on Android. Neither sends your documents off the device for this purpose.

Children

The app is intended for professional and personal record keeping and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access, correct, erase and restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Your documents never reach us. The usage statistics are pseudonymous: they are linked to the random identifier of your installation rather than to you, so we usually cannot tell which records are yours unless you help us find them. You can stop them being collected at any time by withdrawing consent under Settings in the app. For any request, contact us using the details below.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Finland this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).

Changes to This Policy

If what the app collects changes, this policy will be updated and the date above revised.
